Just to confirm car hire was £86.
Split between non car providers comes to 14.33,
Tim - Paid
Edwin - Paid
Mark - Paid
Bevan - Paid
Nico - Paid

Yeah, I see what your saying, My thought was that it could really be anyone travelling in someone else's car though especially when we meet at TPC and people then jump into a car. For example I could have spent the night at Mark's and gone with Ben and Nico gone to TPC. If we do it in such a way as only those using the hire car pay for ir how do we decide who travels in the other cars and therefore gets a discount? Should the driver decide? Take it in turns? First come first serve?
It seems to me the fairest system is for all those not providing a car split the cost of the hire car as it keeps the cost down for everyone. That way the months when you are in the hire car it's you being subsidised. Perhaps an exception can be made for those travelling at different times from the main group. e.g Dylan travelling up on Sunday morning and leaving as soon as event is over.
Happy to listen to suggestions for a better system. As each car needs petrol it's probably easier to split that bit between passengers on the spot rather than creating admin work by keeping recipts for multiple transactions over multiple cars.

think you're right ed...anyone who isnt driving (ie. rental car or catches life with others) should still contribute to cost of the rental vehicle, regardless of what time they go. we could end up in a situation when noone wants to be in the rental car if there are other cars available.
also the rental vehicle is often carrying all the team kit like gazebo, chairs etc

The way i see it is, to stop people jumping in the a non rental car to avoid paying the fee we should all split the petrol and rental expenses, of course you cant do anything about the tear and wear on the non rental cars.

Agreed. People who drive their own cars know that there is wear and tear and it is their choice at the end of the day to take their car or drive in a hired car. Best to split the cost as mentioned above.
