Felix,

It really is budget-dependent. A mongoose will get you started but if you find paintball is for you, I guarantee that within 6 months you'll be buying a new gun (survey statistics bear this out) and the money you spent on the Mongoose will have been wasted.

I'd suggest coming down to practice and seeing what we do before spending any money on kit. It may not be for you. We have a lot of people come down and turn up for 2 or 3 weeks then disappear. I'd hate to see you spend a bunch of money and then decide you aren't going to stick with it.

If you love it and can't get enough of it, I'd suggest what MK1 said and buy a 2nd hand tourney level gun (Timmy, Ego, Matrix) right at the start. It will save you money in the long run. There are a number of 2nd hand markers for sale on the team and elsewhere. Just talk to us before buying anything.

I bought one of those... and after a couple of weeks changed to an Ion.  The Ion is a good start, but event then really you need to consider buying a more advanced marker (like the ones Tim suggests).

After training with the Lions, I recognised the need to buy a new marker, and I bought one from another team member.

By buying a gun through the team, you'll get extra support, and more importantly shoot it before buying it. Something that buying elsewhere will not provide!

I know a couple of the guys are looking to sell markers, so you have some options

But Tim's right, come down, get the feel of what's required and then decide. Any of the team will happily guide you in the right direction

It's 20-25 if you have all your own kit. If you need to rent everything (gun, mask, boilersuit) from TPC it's another 15 quid on top of that.

I'd suggest about £50 for the night as I think we are planning to go for a drink after training  Cheesy

Joing the p8ntballer forums is useful, but as I said buying from the team offers benefits that buyer off the boards doesn't offer.

I think training is starting @ 5pm on Monday... see you there
