just a few questions and Hi By: sparkinator Date: February 27, 2006, 10:59:47 pm
Me and a mate have been playing paintball for about three years and are interested in joining a team but every where we look we have been met with smart alec remarks like "come back when you have some facial hair".
We are both 15 and no one even wants to see us play. We just want to play with some good players so we can learn and improve our game. Do you guys know about any under 16 teams or would you be interested.
Please E-mail me or post back with some information if your interested.
Thank you from will.

Hi Spark, I'm sure our Recruitment Officer, Tim, will e-mail you at some point in the next day but there is no reason in principal you can't join a team at 15 if you guys are mature.
Couple of things that would be helpful would be knowing where you guys live, so we can work out if you can make training. We mainly train on Monday eveings in Canary Wharf.
Also if your looking to join a team there is the financial consideration. As younger players are your parents on board for financing your kit & trips away and probably having to come along?

We live in hertfordshire, potters bar and getting into london isn't to much hastle. Also whats the status on equipment what do you need, We've got some stuff but is there a kit list or something.

The key things you need are a Mask (we reccomend V-Force), a Marker with Loader and Air (Not CO2). After that your looking at getting things like a pod pack (to hold 140 shot pots) playing trousers/top etc.
If you don't have your own kit we can arrange rental from the site we train at for an extra fee while you decide if you want to invest in getting your own.

H have a V-force mask and as well as a gun loader but not a CO2 tank.
Is that ok?

We definitely don't hold anyone’s age against them. As the sport increasingly requires the athleticism that small and fearless players have, a team would be foolish to turn away recruits solely because they are young.
As Ed said, the most important things are that you can make weekly practices in London and have enough money for kit, travel and paint--the sport ain't cheap. The most important thing though is that you have the maturity to understand what you are committing to and are responsible enough to meet your obligations.
You should come down to the Paintball Centre on a Monday to see for yourself what we do at practice and meet most of the guys. We do expect quite a bit of commitment from our members as we practice or play 6-7 times a month during the season. Lots of people come down to check it out and maybe even practice for a few weeks before they realize they really don't have the commitment we require.
Practices at TPC are 15 quid for the site fee and usually another tenner or so, for paint. You can borrow or rent whatever kit you need but bring what you have.

Re: just a few questions and Hi By: IL-Ed Date: February 28, 2006, 10:18:31 pm
Usually we aim to be on field at 18:30 on Monday and end at 21:30.

Forgive me for being blunt and I don't mean to discourage you but if you have to save up to attend a single practice, this probably isn't the team for you.
A good 2nd hand gun and all the kit will cost you in the neighborhood of 700 quid. After that, the first 8 practices will cost you 200 quid or so. If you become a full member, practices, dues and one domestic tourney will run you about 200 a month.
Like we said in the beginning, we are happy to have you come down but please understand what you are getting in to. If this is unrealistic for you, you may be better of finding a more casual team closer to home.

No thats not what i meant, I just need to wait for some checks to clear because I just went on holiday.
Oh and I might need to wait a couple of weeks because my mate has a chest infection.
But in general I should be able to afford once a week unless something major comes up.
